1. A program or a system that allows the user to enter data which the computer can respond to. An interactive system requires a continuous dialog between user and system. This is in contrast to a batch system where once the program begins processing, human contact is no longer required. Many popular applications, such as word processing and spreadsheet programs, are interactive.
