Press Punching

Promotional Mailers and Cut Sheet Self Mailers

Press punched file holes are punched on a web press as the mailers are being printed.

  • Standard configurations are:
         - two holes, 2 3/4" center to center, top or bottom of the sheet.
         - three holes, 4 1/4" center to center on the left side of the sheet.
  • Configurations other than standard may have restrictions so consult your supplier.
  • Press punching is less expensive than bindery punching on larger runs due to the efficiency of punching on the press as the product is being printed.

Continuous Self Mailers and Continuous Multiple Part Mailers

File holes on continuous mailers must be punched on a web press as the mailers are printed.

  • Standard configurations are:
         - two holes, 2 3/4" center to center, top or bottom of the form.
         - three holes, 4 1/4" center to center on the left side of the form
  • Configurations other than standard may have restrictions so consult your supplier.
  • Continuous mailers cannot be bindery punched.

Bindery Punching

Promotional Mailers and Cut Sheet Self Mailers

Bindery punched file holes are punched as a secondary or "off-line" operation in the bindery department.

  • The standard configurations are the same as for the press punching.
  • There are no restrictions on non-standard punching configurations.
  • Bindery punching is more expensive on longer runs due to the labor involved in being an offline operation.
