Desensitizing ink is used on carbonless paper forms in areas
where no image transfer is desired. For example, the user may need a form where
some of the information that they enter on the form appears on the first part
but does not transfer through to the second part. The image will not transfer
regardless if the form goes through an impact printer, a typewriter, or is handwritten.
The ink is applied to the front side of CF (Coated Front)
and/or CFB (Coated Front and Back) papers. The ink
causes the CF coating to be deactivated or desensitized on CF and CFB papers.
When the CF coating is desensitized, it does not allow for an image transfer
to take place between CB (Coated Back) and CFB and/or CF
papers. The ink is transparent and once it has dried, it is barely detectable
on the sheet.
Details to remember when ordering a form
with desensitizing ink:
- Desensitizing ink will not work on the backside of any carbonless
paper.
- It is recommended that desensitizing ink should not be applied to
more than 50% of the surface of the form because of the following
reasons:
- The inking systems of many presses cannot lay down ink effectively
in large areas that require more ink coverage than the inking
system is able to deliver. The desensitized area may not get the
necessary ink coverage to work effectively if the area is over
50%.
- If the area of coverage is over 50%, the desensitizing ink may
smear or drag into areas of the form where the ink is not wanted.
- Desensitizing ink can be on more than one part of a form.
- Desensitizing ink can be in more than one area of the same part
of a form.
